Rolling in the Clover...

...or perhaps an evening on the beach.  In early August I met up with my model friend/muse Keira for an outdoor shoot on Sauvie Island, on the Columbia River north of Portland.  It's a lovely place with an abundance of fields, flora, fauna and...a "clothing optional beach".  A perfect place for an outdoor nude session.

A field of clover...perfect setting for gathering nectar for honey...yeah, the analogies abound, don't they.  The bees were also plentiful.

An abandoned boat and twilight seemed a perfect combination for some lovely lighting...challenging as it was.

"Whither goest thou with yon rope??"

A View at the Coast

In June, 2011, I had the opportunity to shoot some photos with the delightful Kebechet, a Portland model.  We went to Fort Stevens, near Astoria and used Battery Russell as a setting.  Originally built before World War 2, this gun emplacement and bunker was one of the few places on the West Coast that was shelled by a Japanese submarine.  Today's bombshell was much more of a feminine nature.

Mother and Daughter - December, 2010

My first "commission"...though I did not get paid for it. My friend Joan needed photos her daughter Jessica could use for her senior picture, and I offered to help purely for the experience. I found out that taking portraits with two people is not twice as hard, it's quadruple! Still, it was a fun shoot and I was able to use the studio's strobe lights.

Jessica was especially helpful in that she had ideas for poses, such as the floor shots and the ones looking down from a step ladder.

Keira - September 2010

I met Keira through Model Mayhem, and my interest was piqued when she sent me an email saying she was travelling through Oregon and asked if I wanted to work with her on a shoot. We clicked in our ensuing exchange, and I was very interested in shooting my first nude. She calls Texas her home, but she spends most of the year travelling throughout the country. She is also the second professional model with whom I have worked, and the quality of her poses shows that professionalism.

All images are not retouched in any way, and were taken with a Nikon D300, 28-105mm f3.5-4.5 in a rented studio using natural and incandescent lighting

Maya. My first experience with a professional model...and in a professional studio. Taken with a Nikon D300, a 28-105 mm f3.5-4.5 lens, and a combination of natural and incandescent lighting...and as always, the images are not retouched in any way.
